Annotatsiya

Cavernous sinus thrombosis (CST) is one of the severe complications of coronavirus infection. In addition to the initial symptoms of cavernous sinus thrombosis, such as severe headaches or facial pain, which usually occur only on one side and are localized in the occipital and frontal regions, there are special features of MSCT pictures of cavernous sinus thrombosis in COVID-19, such as: native CT scan of the brain (low sensitivity, but there may be indirect signs, asymmetry of the cavernous sinuses (expansion of one of them), increased thrombus density in the lumen of the sinus ("hyperdense sinus sign"), edema of adjacent structures: eyelids, orbits, basal parts of the brain). It should be noted that in the late stage, venous infarction with hemorrhagic impregnation is possible.
