Postoperative adhesions account for 75% of all cases of acute small bowel obstruction. Although open surgery is considered the standard approach for adhesiolysis, the laparoscopic approach is gaining popularity. We assume that the laparoscopic approach is an acceptable choice in adhesive small bowel obstruction and provides better results than the open approach in selected patients.
