Annotatsiya

This article explores the critical importance and effective methodologies for integrating listening and speakingskills within English for Specific Purposes (ESP) curricula. It argues that traditional, isolated approaches to language skillsdevelopment often fall short in preparing learners for the authentic communicative demands of their specific professionalor academic contexts. The paper examines the theoretical foundations of skills integration, emphasizing how a synergisticapproach contributes to the holistic development of communicative competence. Such integration directly enhanceslearners’ ability to comprehend specific spoken discourse (e.g., lectures, negotiations, patient consultations) and respondeffectively (e.g., presenting, reporting, debating, problem-solving). Furthermore, the study highlights common challengesin implementing skill integration, such as resource limitations, assessment complexities, and the need for systematicteacher training.
