The article describes the physiological state of brain cognitive function, its pathology, cause-and-effect mechanisms of cognitive dysfunction development, and the epidemiological state of cognitive dysfunction in various somatic pathologies. Some aspects of microelement deficiency that can cause cognitive impairment are presented. Age is a dependent state of cognitive function, as well as the influence of brain atrophy on the general state of mnesic functions. The purpose of this review was to study and analyze the literature on the influence of somatic pathologies on cognitive function, to find a point of contact for their possible preventive treatment methods to prevent the development of premature dementia and disability in patients who have not reached old age. Results and conclusions. According to the analyzed literature, such somatic factors influencing cognitive activity as diabetes mellitus and hypertension are substantiated. Some scientifically based preventive measures are presented. This article serves as a basis for scientific work on the study of the cognitive function of the brain, determining the pathogenetic mechanisms of pathology development in various situations.
