The article reveals the problem of metabolic syndrome in athletes of power sports in the heavy weight category. The anthropometric differences of weightlifters were noted, in particular, increased fat content, higher В MI and higher muscle strength. At the same time, they have lower aerobic endurance, which is due to the lack of strict restrictions on the upper weight limit in heavy weight categories and the specifics ofsports disciplines. This category of athletes is recommended to continue strength training and dynamic monitoring even after retiring from big-time sports.
