Chronic spinal pain is one of the most common causes leading to hospital visits, loss of work capacity, and disability among adult patients worldwide. Chronic spinal pain arises from multiple causes; any spinal structure that has nerve supply, such as muscles, synovial joints, intervertebral discs, dura mater, and ligaments, can be a source of spinal pain. This review focuses on evaluating the efficacy of radiofrequency ablation for chronic spinal pain. It also presents the history of its application and the main principles of radiofrequency ablation.
