The particular interest in this problem is related to the specific characteristics of bronchial asthma in children with central nervous system disorders. Although the term “psychosomatic pathology” is not used in ICD-10, the problem of bronchial asthma is studied from an integrative perspective involving both the central nervous and respiratory systems. The aim of the study was to examine the characteristics of attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) in children with bronchial asthma. Materials and Methods: This article presents the results of a comprehensive clinical-neurological examination of 126 children with bronchial asthma, with a mean age of 11.4±2.9 years. During the study, the group was divided into two subgroups: the main group included 65 children with bronchial asthma (51.6%) accompanied by long-term consequences of perinatal central nervous system damage; the comparison group included 61 patients with bronchial asthma (48.4%) without any neurological symptoms. Results and Discussion: According to the analysis of the ADHD-RS-V (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder-Rating Scale-V) assessment scales, the most characteristic syndrome was attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), diagnosed in more than half of the main group patients - 34 cases (52.3%). Of these, 18 patients scored between 27 and 35 points (with an average score of 31.2±1.1), and 16 children showed more pronounced ADHD symptoms, with an average ADHD-RS-V score of 41.1±0.7 points. Parental questionnaire data (Zavadenko N.N., 2005) indicated that patients with bronchial asthma and long-term consequences of perinatal CNS damage most commonly exhibited cerebro- asthenic symptoms (2.66±0.38 points), motor clumsiness (2.56±0.29 points), and hyperactivity (2.51±0.43 points). Thus, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder due to perinatal CNS damage and associated emotional stress affects adaptive reactions and the clinical manifestations of bronchial asthma.
