This literature review analyzes genetic factors contributing to the development of renal involvement in preeclampsia based on recent scientific studies. Preeclampsia is a multifactorial complication of pregnancy in which genetic predisposition plays a significant role in its pathogenesis. According to various studies, the genetic component may account for up to 40–50% of the etiology of preeclampsia. Renal dysfunction is manifested through gene polymorphisms associated with endothelial dysfunction, alterations in vascular tone, activation of the coagulation system, and inflammatory processes. Particular attention is paid to genes involved in endothelial function, angiogenesis, cytokine regulation, the coagulation system, and the renin–angiotensin system, which are considered the main genetic predictors of renal damage in preeclampsia. Advances in modern genetics and molecular biology enable early prediction of renal involvement in preeclampsia and the development of individualized management strategies.
