Annotatsiya

The rapid advancement of digital technologies has created new opportunities for improving science education, particularly in chemistry, where many concepts are abstract and experimentally demanding. This study evaluates the effectiveness of virtual laboratory simulations in teaching chemical reactions by comparing their impact on students’ academic performance, conceptual understanding, and learning motivation with conventional instructional approaches. A comparative pedagogical design involving control and experimental groups was employed, in which students in the experimental group engaged with interactive virtual laboratory platforms to explore chemical reactions, reaction mechanisms, and laboratory procedures in a safe and simulated environment. Learning outcomes were assessed through achievement tests, classroom observations, and analyses of student engagement and motivation. The findings indicate that the integration of virtual laboratory simulations significantly enhances students’ understanding of chemical processes, promotes active participation, and strengthens problem-solving and critical-thinking skills. Furthermore, virtual environments provide repeated opportunities for experimentation without the limitations associated with laboratory safety, equipment availability, or reagent costs. The study highlights the value of combining virtual simulations with traditional laboratory instruction to create a more effective hybrid learning model. These results suggest that virtual laboratory technologies can play a substantial role in modernizing chemistry education and supporting competency-based teaching in secondary and higher education institutions.
