The article is devoted to the study of the third edition of Abdullah Qodiri’s novel The Scorpionfrom the Altar, published in 1935. By comparing it with the first and second editions and analyzing the changesintroduced into the text, it is concluded that, for the most part, these changes served to improve the text,enhancing its style, adding various clarifications through detailed elaboration, and so on. At the same time,the text also contains changes that cannot be considered authorial: some of them are editorial corrections,which are occasionally inappropriate, while others arose simply as a result of technical oversights.
