Until any user of a dictionary finds an objective interpretation of the word they are looking for,the value of that dictionary will not be high. The lexicographer’s main task is an objective, comprehensive,and systematic approach to interpreting the keyword in the dictionary entry, taking into account the user’sease of understanding and assimilation. This article examines the requirements for lexicographic semanticsin explanatory-type educational dictionaries.
