Annotatsiya

This article provides a linguistic analysis of offensive words in the Uzbek language, exploring their form, meaning, and contextual features, as well as the principles of compiling an explanatory dictionary. The study classifies offensive lexicon based on semantic, pragmatic, emotional, and sociolinguistic criteria, highlighting the role of zoomorphic metaphors, euphemisms, and dysphemisms. Drawing on international research, particularly the works of Allan and Burridge, the paper emphasizes how such words function as linguistic markers of social, moral, and cultural boundaries. The proposed dictionary aims to include each word’s grammatical, semantic, stylistic, contextual, and translational characteristics, with neutral and scientifically grounded definitions. The article serves as an important resource for improving language culture, evaluating negative speech units through scholarly approaches, and guiding youth toward more conscious and respectful communication.
