This article discussed the sociolinguistic nature of the concept of social status. Social status was distinguished as a sociological and sociolinguistic concept. Also, information was given about the indicators of social status and its evaluation, the manifestation of social status in speech, the behavior of representatives of different nationalities specific to their social status and the differences in their speech were mentioned.
