In this article, based on the documents of the National Archive of Uzbekistan, it is shown that Turkestan has developed national education. The implementation of the policy of restricting madrassas and maktabs by the Russian government after the conquest of Turkestan is highlighted. It is noted that as a result of the policy of restriction, their number has decreased, the number of mudarris, domullas and mullahs has decreased, this circumstance has caused great damage to the education of young people.
