Несмотря на то. что число пожилых пациентов. обращающихся к стоматолог}’, с каждым годом неуклонно растет. стоматологический статус данного контингента изучен недостаточно. Очевидно. что необходимы современные научно-обоснованные подходы к решению геронтостоматологических проблем [1,2]. В 2000 г. в мире было зарегистрировано 600 млн человек в возрасте 60 лет и старше, к 2025 г. их прогнозируется до 1,2 млрд, причем проживать они. скорее всего, будут в развитых странах, где одной из наблюдаемых демографических тенденций является быстрый рост населения в возрасте 80 лет (соотношение лип женского и мужского пола в этой возрастной группе составляет 2:1). Ожидается, что в недалеком будущем 75% пациентов, обращающихся к стоматологу, будут лица пожилого возраста [2]. Нуждаемость пожилых людей в стоматологической помощи очень высока в связи с неудовлетворительным стоматологическим статутом [2-4].
