Parkinson's disease is one of the urgent problems of modern neurology and geriatrics. The etiology, pathogenesis, and risk of complications in this disease are currently being studied deeply. The clinical study involved 75 patients, which were divided into 3 groups: the first group - patients with Parkinson's disease, the second group - patients diagnosed with vascular parkinsonism, and the third group - healthy volunteers. Cognitive impairment in patients was studied using Logical Memory subtest 1 and 2, Wechsler Memory Scale Revised, Hamilton Rating Scale for Depression, and the Hamilton score. The concentration of morning cortisol in the blood serum of all patients was determined using the immunofluorescence method. Nonparametric methods were used for statistical processing of laboratory analysis results and objective clinical data. The degree of significance of P was 0.05. It has been established that there are direct connections between changes in the concentration of morning cortisol in serum in Parkinson's disease and vascular parkinsonism with the development of cognitive impairment, and moreover, these connections are closely related.
