The article provides a comprehensive analysis of child homelessness, which emerged as a critical social challenge during the Soviet period. It examines the penetration of this phenomenon into the territory of Uzbekistan, the rapid increase in the number of homeless children in urban areas, and the systemic measures implemented to address this crisis. Furthermore, the study highlights the pivotal role of orphanages in mitigating child vagrancy while critically evaluating the systemic issues and deficiencies inherent in the childcare institutions of that era.
