This article highlights the immense contribution of the great scholar Muhammad ibn Musa al-Khwarizmi to the development of science, his scientific heritage, and his place in world civilization. Al-Khwarizmi left a significant mark in history as a great mathematician, astronomer, and geographer who lived and worked in the 9th century. The article analyzes his contribution to the formation of Algebra as a science, particularly through his famous book “Kitab al-Jabr wa-l-Muqabala”. Furthermore, special attention is paid to the scholar’s calculation systems, especially his role in developing and introducing Indian numerals to Europe. In addition, al-Khwarizmi’s research in the fields of astronomy and geography, as well as his scientific approaches to mapping the earth, are reviewed. It is emphasized that his scientific works served as an important source for the scholars of the European Renaissance in subsequent centuries. The article also highlights the significance of the concept of "algorithm," derived from the name of al-Khwarizmi, in modern information technologies. Through this research, the scientific legacy of al-Khwarizmi – which remains relevant not only for his time but also today–and his impact on the development of modern science and technology are revealed. The article serves as an important source for those interested in the history of science, students, and researchers.
