This article investigates the biological activity of optically active and racemic forms of 4-methyl-4-ethyl-5-methylenethiazolidine-2-thiones. During the study, the bacteriostatic and bactericidal effects of these compounds against various microorganisms, including Staphylococcus aureus, Staphylococcus epidermidis, Escherichia coli, Klebsiella, Proteus, and Shigella dysenteriae, were determined. The results showed that the (S)-(-) stereoisomer exhibits the highest antimicrobial activity, demonstrating effectiveness even at low concentrations. In addition, a comparative analysis of the biological activity of optical antipodes and their racemic mixture was carried out. Based on the obtained results, the classification of these compounds according to the Commodity Nomenclature of Foreign Economic Activity (TN VED) was established, and the code 2934 20 800 1 was proposed. The findings expand the prospects for the application of biologically active heterocyclic compounds in pharmaceutical and applied chemistry fields.
