The word fatwa in Arabic means "answering a question". The term is used to judge a person on the basis of Shari'ah evidence. The first person to issue a fatwa was the Prophet (р.b.u.h). After him, the Sahabah, Tabeen, Tabaa Tabein and later mujtahid scholars issued fatwas and continue to this day.
