Annotatsiya

Cardiovascular diseases are the main cause of death and disability worldwide. In recent years, interest in the role of the visceral fat layer of the heart - the epicardium fat tissue - in the development of cardiovascular diseases has been increasing [1]. The fatty tissue of the epicardium is anatomically directly related to the myocardium and coronary arteries, which produce various biologically active substances, including inflammatory cytokines, adipokines, and mediators of oxidative stress. This article analyzes modern scientific data on the morphological and functional characteristics of epicardial fat tissue, its participation in metabolic and inflammatory processes, as well as its clinical significance associated with cardiovascular diseases and diagnostic methods.
