The article reveals the research of the scientific heritage of Ahmad Zaki Validi and I.Yu. Krachkovsky on the culture and history of Turkestan and the Volga region, mentioned in Ibn Fadlan’s “Journey”. In addition, the writings of Ibn Fadlan about his travels in Turkestan, Bashkortostan, the Volga region and Bulgaria in 922-923 BC are a great achievement in the history and culture of mankind and are used today as a valuable source.
