Sarcopenia is a pathological syndrome characterized by loss of muscle mass, as well as a decrease in muscle strength and physical performance. Malignant neoplasms have a significant impact on the nutritional status of the patient up to the development of refractory cachexia, that is, an irreversible form of protein-energy deficiency. According to scientific articles, loss of muscle mass due to sarcopenia is one of the predictive factors of the development of toxicity of antitumor treatment and an unfavorable prognosis of oncological diseases.
