The article deals with the history of the study of blood kinship terms in Chinese. Blood kinship terms are one of the basic units in the organization of speech communication. They are widely represented even in modern written communication in Chinese. These units are difficult to understand because they are mostly lacunar, i.e. they do not correspond to the background knowledge of representatives of other ethnic groups, including Uzbek. The description of the system of kinship terms is useful for researching spoken and written language, compiling explanatory dictionaries, and for every learner of Chinese.
