The article analyzes the legal nature of international legal standards, the essence of the concepts of "compulsory labour" and "forced labour". The content of the elements that make up the legal basis of the concept of forced labour such as work or service; any person; the non-voluntary nature of the work or service; threat of punishmenthas been studied. Based on the analysis of the main international treaties adopted by the UN and the ILO, conclusions were drawn about the legal characteristics of forced labour.
