Humanity has used plants as a source of food and medicine since ancient times. Today, medicinal plants are used as the main source in the treatment and prevention of various diseases, in the production of medicines, biologically active supplements and cosmetics. In order to introduce a medicinal plant product into medical practice, it is necessary to study its chemical composition and pharmacological activity. This article presents the information collected from the literature on the chemical compounds and their groups contained in the Prunella L. plant. 15 types of Prunella L. are known in the world, and all types are considered pharmacologically important. The given information refers to the species Prunella vulgaris L.
