The article provides an overview of the growth in demand for the production of phenol and its compounds in the world according to economic analyzes. As well as their spheres of using scope and harm to the environment, human and animal life as an ecotoxicant. Examples of the developed methods and procedures for the determination of m-cresol and phenol in the form of the total phenolic index and separately. The obtained experimental results of the development of sorption-spectroscopic for the determination of m-cresol and phenol, as well as the choice of a sorbent for sorption and various optimal combinations for carrying out experiments are presented.
