This article reveals the history of the study of incomplete sentences in Uzbek and English linguistics, their scientific and theoretical basis and classification. In the languages under consideration, a greater activity of incomplete sentences in dialogic discourse was noticed. Syntactically, it is defined as an activity consisting of various speech acts in terms of expression, that is, structure, semantically - in terms of content, and pragmatically perlocutionary - in terms of message. The presence and use of incomplete sentences is associated not with the language system, but with the conditions of speech, the actual division of the sentence, and semantic-syntactic sub proposition.
