This article examines the improvement of selection technology for 7–9-year-old children in basketball at the initial training stage. The study developed a four-stage selection technology based on a comprehensive assessment of young basketball playersʼ physical development, physical fitness, and technical preparedness. It was found that the application of the improved selection technology in the experimental group contributed to a 22% improvement in coordination abilities, a 25% improvement in hand strength, a 28% improvement in speed-strength abilities, and a 20% improvement in flexibility. Positive changes were also recorded in technical preparedness indicators: shooting at the backboard improved by 24%, shooting from 4 meters at the “nine” target by 28%, Complex 1 — slalom movement — by 25%, and Complex 2 by 28%.
