The article analyzes the place and status of legal terminology in the general system of sectoral terminology. The study is based on scientific works by Uzbek, Russian, and German linguists and examines the theoretical foundations of legal terms, their specific characteristics, structural and semantic aspects. The author studies the internal structure of legal terminology, its classification and development history, identifying common and distinctive features of terminological systems in three languages. The article reveals in detail the basic requirements for legal terms such as unambiguity, accuracy, and prescriptiveness. Special attention is paid to the division of legal terminology into inter-branch and branch terminology, their functional features and cognitive aspects. The problems of normalization, standardization and translation of legal terms from one language to another are also considered. The research is conducted by comparing the stages of formation of Uzbek legal terminology with the development paths of German and Russian legal terminologies. The research results offer a new approach to the issues of standardization and normalization of legal terminology. The conclusions emphasize the theoretical and practical significance of legal terminology, its social role and future development directions. The article creates a theoretical basis for comparative research in the field of legal terminology.
