The article examines euphemisms as linguocultural phenomena reflecting the peculiarities of national worldview and social value systems. Euphemization is viewed not only as a linguistic process but also as a culturally conditioned phenomenon connected with social norms, taboos, and mental patterns of native speakers. The analysis, based on Russian and English material, identifies both similarities and differences in euphemistic strategies. The findings reveal that euphemisms function as markers of cultural identity, serving as intermediaries between direct expression and culturally acceptable forms of communication.
