This article investigates the theory of implicature, a central concept in contemporary pragmalinguistics. It examines the conventional and conversational forms of implicature, building upon, H.P. Grice’s Cooperative principleand its maxims.The “Qurultoy” podcast’s episode titled “Uzbek Weddings: Yesterday and Today” from Uzbek mediadiscourse, serves as the object of study. The article analyzes fragments from the podcast, focusing on conventional implicatures (e.g., additional meanings conveyed through lexical items like “but”, “because”, “firstly”) and conversational implicatures (hidden meanings inferred through context, speech situation, and figures of speech). The analysis reveals that speaker’s use of implicatures significantly impacts listeners, encouraging them to deeply reflect on the social and financial issues associated weddings. The findings reveal that speakers skillfully utilize implicatures within media discourse. This strategic use significantly impacts listeners, encouraging them to critically reflect on the socio-financial issues associated with weddings and prompting a more nuanced perspective on the topic. Through these approaches, the pragmatic functions of language and its vital role in society are clearly demonstrated.
