The article analyzes the transformational method for translating literary text. As we know, critics insist that literary translation is an art that can only be done by artists of the word, who rely mainly on aesthetic criteria in translation. From all of the above, it is clear that literary translation is equally a fact, both linguistic and literary; for it (such a translation) deviations from the maximum possible semantic accuracy are typical in order to ensure a greater artistic value of the translation text. The problem is that in most cases the source language and the target language turn out to be significantly different in their internal structure. Inconsistencies in the structure of the two languages invariably necessitate grammatical transformations. These mismatches are either complete or partial. A complete mismatch is observed in cases when the grammatical form is absent in the Uzbek language, which is in the English language. In some cases, the grammatical category of one language is broader than the grammatical category of another. It should also highlight cases of overlap, when a given grammatical category exists in both languages, but does not coincide in all its forms.
