The article examines the role of intercultural communication in the existence and functioning of a person in modern society. The main methodological approaches to studying intercultural communication, such as functional, explanatory, and critical approaches, are analyzed. Considering the written language of the people as a means of intercultural communication at the crossroads of cultures, the author notes the importance of developing specific transliteration rules not only to achieve an adequate translation of the text into another language or graphics but also when changing the graphics (alphabet) of the native language.
