This article examines the importance of foreign language professional-communicative competence in the training of future history teachers. It highlights the challenges posed by inadequate teaching methods, which limit students’ ability to effectively apply foreign language skills in professional contexts. The study identifies Content and Language Integrated Learning (CLIL) as a potential solution, offering a comprehensive approach to enhance professional and linguistic competencies. CLIL enables deeper understanding of subject-specific content and promotes global professional engagement but faces challenges such as insufficient teacher expertise and limited instructional materials. Drawing on the works of scholars like D. Hymes, M.N. Vyatyutnev, and V.V. Safonova, the article outlines the structure of foreign language competence, integrating linguistic, communicative, and sociocultural components. The proposed CLIL-based model emphasizes practical application, motivational impact, and professional relevance. The study concludes that adopting CLIL can bridge the gap between educational outcomes and labor market demands, fostering the development of highly competent history teachers.
