This article reveals the common motif in the work of the people's writer of Uzbekistan Sh. Kholmirzayev and the outstanding representative of world literature Jack London and their individual style. The fate of the characters of the old man Koziboy in Shukur Kholmirzayev's story "The Old Man" and Kuskush in Jack London's story "The Law of Life", their decisions, choices and the essence of their common cause, that is, in the face of life and death, are shown with the help of examples.
