This study investigated the formation of 1000-seed weight in families, lines, and cultivars derived from complex intervarietal cotton hybrids under optimal irrigation and water-deficit conditions. The results demonstrated that water deficit reduced the 1000-seed weight in most genotypes. However, several families and lines maintained stable or even increased seed weight under water stress. The T-14-16/14 line, along with the O-10-11 and O-37-38 families, exhibited superior performance under water-deficit conditions. These promising genotypes are recommended as valuable breeding materials for developing drought-tolerant and high-yielding cotton cultivars.
