This article is devoted to a systematic study of the mechanisms and conditions of transposition at the level of lexical and grammatical categories within parts of speech. The article examines transposition within the grammatical categories of verbs and adjectives. When using an adjective in a figurative sense, its belonging to the lexico-grammatical category often changes. The most productive in modern Russian is the transition of relative adjectives into qualitative ones.
