This article analyzes the formation of the Japanese writing system, its components, and their functional aspects. The Japanese writing system is based on three main components: kanji, hiragana, and katakana, each performing a specific linguistic function. Kanji consists of logographic characters mainly used to express core lexical units. Hiragana plays a crucial role in marking grammatical aspects of Japanese words, while katakana is designated for foreign words and specialized terms. The Japanese writing system is significant not only for its linguistic complexity but also as an expression of cultural and historical heritage.
