Modal words in the process of speech communication express the speaker's attitude to the utterance and give it additional semantic shades. They serve as important pragmatic tools in the speech communication of different languages. This article focuses on the sociopragmatic features of modal words in languages of different systems, analyzing their usage, contextual variation, and cultural aspects.
