This article analyzes the problems of studying gaps in the context of world linguistics. Gaps, which are concepts or ideas that are absent in one language but present in another, are key to understanding cultural and linguistic differences. Particular attention is paid to the importance of gaps for translation work, since they can become obstacles to accurate and efficient translation, requiring translators to find ways to preserve linguistic richness and diversity. The article presents specific examples that demonstrate how linguists approach the study of gaps, identifying their presence and impact on linguistic and cultural interaction.
