This article functionally and semantically compares nouns in both languages, analyzes their similarities and differences, resulting in comparative and basic information for learning these languages. It is known that the types of nouns in the English language are functionally similar to the types of nouns in the Uzbek language, but differ in name and division into types. For example, in the English language, nouns are divided according to the principle of singularity and generality, and in the Uzbek language, nouns that perform this function are called common nouns and common nouns. The only big difference in dividing nouns into types is the presence of a separate category such as animate and inanimate in English and the absence of this category in Uzbek. This difference also depends on the types of grammatical categories in them. The existence of such differences creates problems for Uzbek students studying English, not being able to find an accurate translation, not being able to express the original meaning of words and phrases in another (English) language. The article highlights many other similar and different aspects using specific examples, and it is expected that the above problems will be solved, at least partially.
