This dissertation investigates the security of symmetric cryptographic primitives. These systems rely on mathematical object-based transformations that can be expressed in several ways. Subsequently, various induced structures were used to identify new vulnerabilities. Using various representations, some schemes submitted to the CAESAR competition, as well as some special and universal stream ciphers, were cryptanalyzed. Taking into account the NIST standardization process, design criteria for lightweight block ciphers were developed, and new cryptographic criteria were identified that are more relevant than usual in the case of stream ciphers.
