The article examines the language competencies of primary educationstudents as a key factor in their professional training. Special attention is paid to the relationshipbetween language competencies and the professional skills of primary school teachers. Based onthe analysis of scientific literature, the main components of language competence necessary foreffective pedagogical activity in primary school are identified.
