A comparison of multi-decadal data indicates that the entire Central Asian region will experience a 3% reduction in rainfall. The objective of the study is to monitor the meteorological conditions of the Kafirnigan River Basin and identify drought using the Standardized Precipitation Index and the Standardized Precipitation and Evapotranspiration Index for the period 1950-2023. The article provides an assessment of drought in the south of Tajikistan over several decades based on meteorological data from the Ayvadj weather station.
