The purpose of this study is to identify the main directions and outcomes of historical research on the epidemic situation in the USSR during the 1930s. The relevance of the study lies in its potential to provide a deeper understanding of both historical and contemporary aspects of epidemic processes and to evaluate past experiences in combating epidemics. The findings aim to identify the political, socio-economic, and environmental factors contributing to epidemic diseases, highlight the positive and negative aspects of healthcare development, and determine the quantitative characteristics of infection rates and the role of infectious diseases in societal development. Researchers have shifted from focusing on demographic crises to making historical generalizations based on the concept of "epidemiological transitions" and analyzing morbidity and mortality rates. The results demonstrate that the healthcare system continued to develop despite population declines caused by epidemics and limited resources. Preventive measures were given the highest priority in the fight against epidemics.
