This article analyzes archival documents reflecting the historical traces of Bukhara State University, the first higher education institution established in Bukhara in the 20th century (formerly Bukhara State Pedagogical Institute). Unique archival sources recording the history of the university, which faced a century, are currently held in the collections of the National Archives of Uzbekistan and the Bukhara Regional State Archives. Currently, the Bukhara Regional State Archive, comprising 4 collections related to higher education institutions, holds 2,143 files covering the period from 1933 to 2011. Among them, documents reflecting the history of Bukhara State University are of particular importance in terms of document weight, timeframe, and volume.
