This article analyzes the theoretical and methodological foundations for developing communicative competence in future educators. The author explores the concept of communication, identifying its structural components and modes of activity. The essence of pedagogical competence, the verbal and nonverbal aspects of communicative competence, as well as strategies for achieving effective communication through psychological distance and role shifts, are discussed. In conclusion, it is emphasized that communicative competence is not innate but is formed through the acquisition of socio-communicative experience
