In establishing the foundations of the Third Renaissance in our country, we draw directly on our centuries-old national traditions and the rich spiritual heritage of our ancestors. Today, however, the development of national folklore, music, and folk performance art is at risk of disappearing. The rise of "mass culture" in society, increased exposure of young people to Western culture, and, in some cases, the neglect of national traditions can lead to a sense of disregard for our cultural heritage. To protect against this threat, enhancing the spiritual and cultural development of our youth, preserving national identity, promoting epic poetry, folk tunes and songs, and nurturing the arts of dance and askiya have become key priorities of state policy.
