This article analyzes the causes and consequences of the spread of smallpox, one of the main medical problems in the Fergana region in the late 19th - early 20th centuries in Turkestan. The measures taken to combat smallpox, and the main difficulties and problems of introducing a vaccination system against this disease in the region were studied. With the help of archival materials and historical works, the stages of compulsory vaccination against smallpox carried out in the area, as well as the dynamics of the growth of vaccination from year to year, are analyzed.
